Advantage Academy has adopted a Flex Year Program for our 2010-2011 school year in order to better serve our students and their individual needs.

Dr. Caroline Leaf is a neuroscientist, author, international speaker and educator.  Dr. Leaf has trained over 100,000 students and educators her 5-Step Learning process, which is currently being used at all Advantage Academy campuses at all grade levels.  We have already seen improved student retention and learning in only a few short months of using her system!  

Dr. Leaf will have a free 2 hour informational session  for administrators in education and teachers on her “Switch On Your Brain”  educational system.  This event will be held on Friday, July 30th 9:30-11:30 am at Advantage Academy’s Lincoln Training Center located at 618 W. Wheatland Rd. Heart and Home Ministries founded & operated by Sonia Zielke had a blast at their first party for mentors, students and their parents on May 6th.  There were over 50 in attendance and we are so excited that this mentor program has such an awesome group of mentors and kids!  Heart and Home is hoping to continue the program at the North Duncanville campus  next year too!

Mrs. Morris’ Junior High class raised $500 for Convoy of Hope a Haiti relief organization.  “The Junior High did an incredible job and we are so proud of them!”  said Mrs. Rhonda Roberts

Advantage Academy-Grand Prairie One Act Play Cast & Crew

Advantage Academy-Grand Prairie appeared in their first UIL One-Act Play competition in Frost, TX on March 23, 2010 with outstanding results.  The play was directed by Jerry Holder and Paula Sanders.   The team of  actors and crew presented “Ed Opus (Rex).”  This was the first time for many of these students to appear on a real stage!  

• Winner for Outstanding Crew Members were Taylor McAnally, Paris Howard, Nora Varga and Ricca Derricks
• The play – Ed Opus (Rex) winner of District Alternate play
• Winner for District All-Star cast were Caleb Gros and Michael McCommack
• Honorable Mention All-Star cast included Alexandra Domingues, Gabriella Pincheira, Kassandra Murry, Sarah Gribbin and Bethany Tucker
• Additional cast members were Epiphany Arvie, Jared Bergthold, Kristen Bergthold, Ernesto Delgado, Josh DeBurr, Sharon Ford, Nia Williams and Laken Zelis

We had a PACKED house for recent our Celebrate America event!  A local boys scout troop helped with the celebration too.  Way to go kids!!!
